ECCO

When it comes to simple, stylish and supportive footwear, ECCO are the industry leaders. Using advanced technology and premium materials, ECCO creates shoes that perfectly blend Scandinavian minimalist style and exceptional comfort.

ECCO was founded by Karl Toosbuy, a Danish shoemaker who dreamed of owning his own business. In 1963, Karl's new company was established and it employed 74 people within a year. The first style produced by the company was called the "Venus", and was characterised by a pointy toe and thin heel. In 1978 the ECCO Joke shoe was launched. A variation of the moccasin style, this soft shoe was an instant hit. This shoe was also the first in the world to have the company logo moulded into the sole. At the time, Karl Toosbuy was experimenting with direct injection technology which was being used to mass produce cheap footwear. Karl decided to use this technology to mass produce higher quality shoes, which he successfully did with the ECCO Soft style in the early 1980's. The company pivoted to focus on supportive, durable and stylish shoes and quickly became a consumer favourite in the niche. After a successful global expansion into markets across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Europe, ECCO was named "Footwear Company of the Year" in the United States in 1994. In recent years, ECCO continues to innovate and create new styles to please its consumers, remaining a world leader in comfortable, high quality footwear.
