Dr Martens Boots and Shoes

With their trademark thick soles and iconic yellow stitching, Dr Martens boots need no introduction. A street fashion staple popularised by UK punk rockers, these boots are more than a shoe, they're a cultural phenomenon.

Dr Martens was founded by Klaus Märtens in 1947. Klaus served as an army doctor in WWII and sustained a serious foot injury in 1945. He found that standard issue army boots exacerbated the pain from this injury and he decided to create something more comfortable. When the war ended, Klaus created a pair of comfortable boots with air cushioned soles; the first pair of Dr Martens. Initially popular among factory workers and police officers, Dr Martens boots gained a cult following in rock musicians, punks and other youth subculture members. In recent years Dr Martens have expanded their range to include many variations of boots, sandals and other accessories. Now firmly planted as a favourite among the fashion set, more than 7 million pairs of Dr Martens shoes are sold globally each year.

Brand House Direct carries dozens of Dr Martens styles guaranteed to wow you. From the classic 1460 boot to summery sandals and fashion forward platforms, we have a pair to complement every wardrobe.

Dr Martens FAQ

How long does it take to break in Dr Martens?

While a well-fitting pair of Dr Martens will quite possibly be the most comfortable and durable shoes you own, there's no denying that the breaking in process can take some time. It takes an average of 3-6 weeks to properly break in Dr Martens boots or shoes. You can make the breaking in process as painless as possible by:

  • Wearing thick socks
  • Using a shoe stretcher
  • Applying boot stretch spray

Should you size up or down with Dr Martens?

In our opinion, Dr Martens footwear runs true to size. You should be able to select your normal shoe size for most Dr Martens boots and shoes. There are a few exceptions to this rule which are the iconic 1460 boot, the Chelseas and the Jadons variations. These 3 models run large in our opinion and you should size one full size down if you're purchasing a pair. It's important to note that Dr Martens do offer half sizes for those in between sizes.

Are Dr Martens waterproof?

Dr Martens boots in original factory condition are not waterproof. These shoes are made from leather which is naturally porous and not waterproof by nature. If you'd like your boots to provide better water protection, consider using specialised shoe care products such as waterproofing spray or wax to achieve better water resistance.

Are Dr Martens unisex?

Dr Martens are for everyone. All Dr Martens styles are intended to be worn by men or women and have been intentionally created with a unisex style. If you like them, wear them! As the footwear brand is intended to be unisex, make sure you check which gender the sizing information is aligned to in order to ensure you get the right fit.

Do Dr Martens have a manufacturers warranty?

Brand House Direct stands by the quality of the footwear we sell. If your Dr Martens shoes have a defect, please contact us for assistance.
